June Moments

I'm bit late on getting my June Moments together, but like I mentioned in my last post, it has been a crazy busy couple of weeks. To make matters worse, I never cleaned up any photos while the Grands were here and my IPhoto went into overload mode. Too many photos, not enough space. I have spent the last two weeks deleting photos or moving them to a backup drive. I have a long way to go but, I am getting things organized and can once again upload photos.

So ya'll know the Grands were here for just over two weeks, so it should be no surprise that the bulk of my photos are from their visit. While they were here we celebrated both Sweet Lady's and Little Red's Birthday and our 40th Wedding Anniversary. We will be doing some official celebrating of the Anniversary a little later this year.

Sweet Lady has kept us busy with all the details involved with her move. She's been at her new home for about three weeks now and we couldn't be more delighted.

Youngest son was also here while Grands were visiting, it made for a really busy house but we loved it.

The house is quiet again, but life continues to be busy. I have struggled with God's purposes in this "season" of life I am in. I can't explain it fully, but I am more at peace than I have been. I still don't understanding all of his purposes but I have to believe he is directing my circumstances. In that truth I can rest, but it's a work in progress.

It was a month of laughter and tears, of beach days and rainy days, celebrations and goodbyes. This month has had it all.

So without further ado, here's a little glimpse of June

The Quest For Peace

This is a scripture that  spoke to my heart today as I struggle to gain peace concerning an issue I am dealing with

"Cursed is the one the who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the dessert, in a salt land where no one lives"

BUT WAIT THERE IS GOOD NEWS

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out it's roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; it's leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit " Jeremiah 17:6-7

The issue I am dealing with... getting control of my blood pressure...hate it don't like it when it needs to be reregulated. This is week three with four changes in medications thus far (I am on three different meds for my B/P, who would have guessed...right?) Changes have resulted because of side effects, harshness of drug or ineffectiveness of drug....MD still trying to find that perfect combination. I AM blessed with a  physician who has been patient and is available, but when I start feeling bad, and these drugs can make you feel bad, I start to lose peace, and fear starts knocking at my door begging to come in. I have to make a decision, sometimes several times a day, whether I am going to open the door and entertain that fear, that so wants to come in, or am going to ignore that constant knocking. Unfortunately fear has been a frequent "guest"....I'd say I need to get a dead bolt for the door but I'm the one who keeps opening it

So how did this scripture speak to me today...... it helped remind me that my ULTIMATE confidence is in the Lord, my ULTIMATE trust needs to be in him. It's fantastic that I have a good doctor but it is the  Lord who is ultimately in control..it is Him who I need to trust...it should be easy....right? (it's not)

Surely God  who "determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name" Psalm 147:4 has a handle on my situation....I know this...I do.  I should probably follow the advice I often give to a sweet friend of mine...."you need to just trust him...he's got this." Lord help me remember "you've got this"

Perfect Peace

This is a scripture that spoke to me tonight. It's a reminder to me to stop looking at my circumstances, my problems or the world's problems in general and focus on the Lord instead and what his word says. It's a promise that says there is peace available to me, and not just any peace but perfect peace. Maybe you need this reminder tonight too.

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock   Isaiah 26:4

Finding Peace

Life can be a lot like the weather, it can change very quickly, sometimes you have warning sometimes you don't. There are all the indications that a "weather front" is getting ready to move through our lives, I can feel the winds against my face. I am not sure what's ahead...but change is coming.

When thinking about all the different scenarios that could play out, I  remembered a song by Sara Groves that I heard a couple of years ago...I was reminded of the faithfulness of God in times past...he has always provided what I have had need of. My biggest need right now is peace for today and the days ahead...trusting he will continue to provide it. Thought I would share the words from that song that gave me so much peace tonight.

He's Always Been Faithful
Morning by morning, I wake up to find
The power of comfort in God's hand in mine
Season by season I watch Him amazed
In awe of the mystery of His perfect ways
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me

I can't remember a trial or a pain
He did not recycle to bring me gain
I can't remember one single regret
In serving God only, and trusting His hand
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful to me

This is my anthem, this is my song
The theme of the stories I've heard for so long
God has been faithful, He will be again
His loving compassion, it knows no end
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He's always been faithful, He's always been faithful
He;s always been faithful to me

Standing on a Firm Foundation.

Been thinking a lot lately, about everything going on in our lives. Crazy days to be sure, I honestly don't know what each day will bring when I wake up in the morning. One thing I can say for sure, God has been faithful. The circumstances in our life right now,  they might seem out of control to someone looking in from the outside but I know that God is in control, none of this was a surprise to Him, everything will be used for his purposes.

Our peace and joy is not dependent on our circumstances. So despite what everything looks like we are good. (not that we don't have our moments, we do, but we don't stay there) Our foundation is not shifting sand but a solid rock.

God's grace...sufficient. His mercies...new every morning.

So what's this post all about...just preaching to myself.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness"  Lamentations 3:22-23

Unexpected Weekend

Feeling the effects from my last "fill". Had been feeling pretty good yesterday afternoon, just some tightness, little achiness but nothing pain meds were not handling. Deteriorated as the evening progressed, not only having achiness but lots of sharp pain as well. Unable to sleep in the bed, unable to find a position that was comfortable. I went downstairs to sleep in the recliner. Good news is after I got settled in the recliner I slept all night. When I sleep my husband sleeps. I feel bad when I am restless because it keeps him up, with me it's not a problem, I can nap during the day, but he has to go to work and I know he is tired. Starting tomorrow he has the next couple of days off and I am praying he can recharge, and feel rested before he has to go back to work. This week we celebrate Veterans Day. We have traditionally gone to Williamsburg during this time, because all of the attractions in Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown are free to active duty and retired military in honor of Veterans Day. Mike and I had talked about going maybe for the day but there was concern about how I would do. He came home yesterday and told me that he had arranged to stay at a cabin for the weekend. We have stayed there before, it's very peaceful, right on the York River. This was a wonderful surprise. We can now go and enjoy the attractions, and head back to the cabin as I get tired for a recharge. The cabins are fully equipped, have a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and porch to sit outside and enjoy wildlife and the beauty of the changing seasons. Thankful to my husband for doing this, it will be nice to have a change of scenery, thankful for my daughter in law who has volunteered to take our dog while we are gone. I am thankful for this opportunity to get away, to one of my favorite places to go. I will enjoy  sitting on the porch drinking coffee with my husband and just spending some time with him. There are places to walk aong the river, plenty of picture taking opportunities. My prayer is that this will be a time of rest for my husband. I also pray that my pain will be manageable before we have to leave, there are no recliners in the cabin :) So this is a blessing, but I don't want to just focus on the upcoming weekend, I want to be thankful for each day the Lord has given me, good ones and bad ones, knowing that all my days come from him.
