On Holiday

When we lived overseas the locals would say they were going on "holiday" when they went on vacation.

I am on a holiday of sorts...mine started last week. Now before you start thinking warm sunny beaches or mountain getaway, let me quickly set the record straight, my holiday has been provided by my physician and no she has not sent me anywhere, I am on a drug holiday....specifically from the drug that helps prevent my cancer from reoccurring. Although the jury is still out on this one...the side effects may be outweighing the benefits

I thought health issues were beginning to settle down, but my blood pressure continues to be a problem, either it's too high or I start to have side effects from the meds that are being used to control it.  (they have tried several combinations)  There has been a meeting of the minds...my PCP and my oncologist...and it has been agreed that I can stop the cancer preventive drug for now to see if blood pressure improves. I am not totally off the hook, there is already discussion about a different med that they want me to take
The adventure continues, I won't lie...fear and frustration creep in pretty easily...this is not going according to MY plan, Oh how tightly I cling to the idol of "my way" Sanctification...it's a life long thing

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus  Philippians 1:6

Dear Maryann, I am glad you are giving your body a break, even if it is to see whether the one specific drug is causing your b.p. to rise. This kind of holiday stinks, unless you can do something else for yourself that is fun. Like you said, it is the working out of our salvation; our hope must be in Christ alone. Lifting you up in prayer right now dear one.
Hugs, Noreen

I pray that this drug vacation will give the drs the information that they need to help regulate your blood pressure.....Sanctification is not an easy journey so I will be praying for you.....

I was just leafing through my Bible rereading some of the Scripture verses I have circled and one of them is Philippians 1:6. It is a life verse of our counseling pastor and he uses it on his letterhead.

Praying the doctors will find just the right meds and your blood pressure will improve.

Oh Maryann I can soo relate. I too have bp issues sooo easily when on different medications. It is soo frustrating. I do take two different medications for bp as it is, but I don't have any side effects from them, praise God. I did not have to take any medications for my breast cancer as it was not estrogen receptive. However when I first had my hysterectomy and was put on the patch for just 3 months, my blood pressure sky rocketed. Now they don't have me on any estrogen replacement at all, because I have had the breast caner. Soo of course that means I deal with hot flashes occasionally, and other hormonal issues. Soo frustrating. I will pray they will figure out just the right medication to use, and everything gets under control...soon. Meanwhile, enjoy your break from it all for a while. Big hugs to you!!

I will put you on my prayer list. I am so sorry that you are having this kind of vacation. I hope it does regulate.
Reading this I know I take my health so for granted.
I am sending a hug your way. O

Will keep you in my prayers, thanking God for your body's holiday and for His love and mercy, and healing!

I hope that in the days since you wrote this, you are already beginning to see if there is an effect. I know how the drugs surrounding cancer treatment and prevention can be so toxic themselves.

I lift you right now for a hedge of protection from any malignant invader as you take this drug holiday.

May the LORD give you HIS peace as you walk this path Maryann. What a thought it is to know that HE is holding you. Isaiah 26:3-4 is precious at times like this.

Many Blessings,
Camille
