Memories Being Made

We have had our youngest at home for a little while now and have been blessed with the assist he has been able to give us. Projects and tasks my husband has wanted to do but just hadn't had the time or the help he needed to get things done.

One project I am particularly excited about is this pathway. I had envisioned this about a year ago. The ground in this area is all clay, doesn't drain well, grass never grew. I started working on this myself last summer, I dug out about a foot before I realized that I was in over my head. We put down a little gravel in that one foot space, life events happened, all progress stopped and that was the end of it.

Two things happened a week ago, there was available help and we still had the truck we rented to help my son move. Perfect opportunity to complete the longed for pathway. Father and son dug it all out, hauled the clay to the dump (theres not much you can do with this stuff, it digs up in clods and then just hardens like concrete) then they hauled several loads of gravel to fill what they dug out.

My husband said my son was a great motivator( husband said "I was ready to take a break, he just kept pushing") My son just smiled, he told me "we were so close to getting finished, I just wanted to get it done" I love the way it turned out, just as I had pictured it in my mind.

We have enjoyed having him home, we get a different perspective on things, get a window into his world, catch up on what's happening in his life, watch in amazement at the energy, were we once like that?

This afternoon he is upstairs with the little ones, they are fascinated with his french horn, he has been showing them how to get sound out of it. Teaching them how to "buzz" their lips. I hear all kind of giggling and strange sounds coming from that upstairs room (and believe it or not the two year old is sleeping through this)

Tomorrow he is planning on making some Peach Tea Preserves, sound like fun?

Peach preserves! Someone did a mighty good job of raising that young man. That's all I'll say.

I love the path and know what it is like to have a motivator/slave driver for a child. It's nice, isn't it?

I'll have to agree with what Debbie said about that mighty good job you did raising your son. And yes, we once had energy like that!

Great looking pathway! Blessings!
