When Did This Happen?

My DIL had a party for my son this past weekend, his birthday is in a couple of days and we were celebrating .The big news, he is going to be thirty, my question, when did this happen? Where did all the time go, how did I get old enough to have a son thirty years old?

It was a nice celebration, we had crabs, which was quite a treat, it had been years since I have eaten crabs. DIL had set up the festivities outside, rain kept us in (badly needed rain so there was no complaints) tables were set up with newspaper and the "picking" began.

Oldest granddaughter was a quick learner and we had her "picking" in no time, grandson wouldn't touch them or eat any crab, so it was hot dogs for him. Little Miss found the crabs quite entertaining but daddy did all her "picking." After everyone had eaten their full, we spent the rest of the time picking what was left over, while enjoying each others company.

DIL sent me some photos of the crab cakes she made with the leftovers, they looked delicious

Great fun was had by all, not often we are all able to be together so this was a treat.  Wishing my son a very happy birthday, a very blessed man.

Just a kid at heart

If you find out where that elusive time goes, PLEASE let me know. I have been asking the same question.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time at your crab fest birthday party!

Happy Birthday wishes to your kid at heart! The celebration looks great!

I had a harder time when our oldest turned thirty than she did. That little rascal turned 33 last week!

ha! My word verification is foodist... I like that!

My oldest turns 28!!! and I can't believe it either. We are praying there will be children by the time he hits 30!
Happy Birthday to his mom...we seem to feel it more than they do at times.

My oldest child is 22; like you, I sometimes wonder about the passage of time. Then there are those other days when I'd tell you "I felt everyone of those 22 years!" We've shared a lot of history together, almost half of my life. In many ways, we've grown up alongside one another.

With 2 young ones still at home and another in college, I've yet to experience the totality of an empty nest. If my husband and I ever arrive there, we're going to take a few vacations together and enjoy visiting our kids:)

Glad for your celebration! Birthdays are such fun, family times.

Oh, I can relate. I look at our oldest and think the same; When did this happen? When did he get to be 34? I'm glad you had a great time!
